Planning-
Planning is the foundation of System
Development. Grachek, Inc. works directly with clients to identify the
value of a new information system, the potential risks, and the
potential solutions. This stage in the process is key to ensuring that
the 'to-be' system will fully support the client's strategic
plan. The project's
direction and control gradually emerge during this stage to bring life
to the project -- smoothly and effectively.
Analysis-
The first step to building a better
system is getting to know the client and their requirements
better. Grachek, Inc. employs methods including on-site observations,
interviews, document analysis, and Joint Application Design (JAD) -- all
with the goal of understanding exactly what it is that the system needs
to do and how it may be done more efficiently. Grachek, Inc. strives to
give all users the opportunity to participate in the development of the
'to-be' system. Involving users in the development process not
only produces better ideas, but also helps motivate the users to adopt the new system when it is
deployed.
Design-
Whether the system will employ an
'off-the-shelf' package, custom development, or a mix of both, Grachek,
Inc. provides clients the tools necessary to make informed decisions
regarding system design. Grachek, Inc.'s experience with most popular software and hardware vendors
further helps to broaden the list of potential solutions.
Emphasis is placed on identifying the value of technology, never using
technology for the sake of technology.
Implementation-
At this stage any
required programming is completed and system documentation is created - both
instructional for users and technical for future development. Thorough
testing is conducted to ensure accuracy and reliability. Grachek,
Inc. reviews conversion options with clients to form a plan for a
successful transition that is the least likely to disrupt business.
Proven training
techniques and organizational change management are preparations for a smooth
transition and the greatest possible acceptance of the new system.
